The Vision
Tom and Laurie Possi share a vision of hand-crafting distinctive cabernet sauvignon wine from the highest quality fruit in Napa Valley with a focus on the vineyard, site expression, and small lot production. With minimal intervention throughout the entire process of berry selection, fermentation and aging they strive for balance, complexity and purity of fruit.
Crafting a wine to be savored, Tom and Laurie Poggi have transformed their harvest into two remarkable wines. They’re each immediately inviting and have a great potential for aging.
The Promise
Warm and effervescent, they don’t take themselves too seriously. Says Laurie, “We enjoy drinking a great wine anytime and, we believe a great wine “tastes” even better when it is reasonably priced. That is our commitment to you: Exceptional wines that over-deliver in value.”
The Vineyard
The Poggi’s estate vineyard – The Twin Palms vineyard – is located in northeast Napa Valley, just southeast of downtown Calistoga, in the Napa Valley sub-appellation of Calistoga. The Twin Palms vineyard was initially planted in 1997 to Syrah and grafted to Cabernet Sauvignon and three Bordeaux varietals in 2010. Like its neighboring vineyards and wineries, the wine produced is a well-balanced combination of well-defined, concentrated flavors and develops in complexity with age.
They source fruit from a second vineyard site located on Diamond Mountain. It’s just over two acres and situated on a bench, mid-slop on Diamond Mountain.
Their Good Fortune
For the Poggi’s their tie to winemaker, Ignacio Blancas goes deeper than the wine. He is both mentor and friend. “Not only do we appreciate Ignacio for the many things he has taught us about the vineyard, winemaking, and his influence in our decision to get into the wine business but it’s the genuine friendship that he’s extended to us over the years that we treasure.”
